Across the world, people lost jobs, businesses crumbled and economies staggered under the weight of uncertainty. The sorrow of the times was deeply personal as well; families mourned their loved ones and I too lost my father, Prof. Prodip Majumdar, a distinguished lecturer of Political Science, to a brain stroke in 5th April of that year. Loss, in all its forms, left its mark.

As I sat down to write this article, I turned my attention to a question that has intrigued me: How can India strengthen its financial footing? Looking at India’s astrological chart, I did not focus on recent planetary transits or Dasha cycles but rather on the broader influences that shape the nation’s destiny.

India, with its Taurus Ascendant and Cancer Moon Sign, bears the presence of ‘Anant’ Kalsarpa Yoga in a descending order. This alignment suggests that progress often comes with struggle, that achievements do not arrive effortlessly but through perseverance. Yet, the very presence of this Yoga also grants the people of India a tenacity that ensures they keep striving forward.

Mars, positioned in Ardra Nakshatra under the influence of Rahu, plays a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s drive. This unique combination endows India with sharp observational skills, an introspective nature and a thirst for knowledge. It is no wonder that the country has produced some of the finest scientists across disciplines—visionaries who have illuminated paths where none existed before. The combined force of Mars and Rahu fosters creativity, pushing innovation across various sectors.

The 10th house, which governs a nation’s career and financial standing, is ruled by Saturn, positioned in Aslesha Nakshatra, under Mercury’s domain, within the sign of Cancer. In the Dasamsa chart, Saturn moves to Virgo, reinforcing its significance in India’s economic framework. Saturn’s influence steers growth in key sectors—agriculture, mining, manufacturing, infrastructure, real estate, aviation, chemicals and fertilizers. Historically, these industries have been the backbone of India’s financial strength.

However, Saturn’s placement at 20 degrees 28 minutes in Cancer, closely shadowed by the Sun at 28 degrees 1 minute, leads to combustion. This signifies that while these industries have immense potential, their recognition comes only through great effort and persistence.

Suggestions for Strengthening India’s Financial Growth:

With these planetary alignments in mind, here are a few proposals that might support India’s economic stability:

Evening Vegetable Retail Shops for Small Towns:

Farmers could benefit greatly by selling their produce in the evening rather than in the morning. The astrological alignment suggests that post-sunset transactions may yield better profits. Business dealings in agriculture, fertilizers and related industries may also be more fruitful if finalized during evening hours.

Legislative decisions concerning agriculture and related sectors might prove more beneficial if debated in the evening sessions of Parliament.

Increased Investment in Agriculture:

Innovation in farming techniques and the introduction of incentives for farmers could significantly enhance productivity and profitability.

Boosting Agricultural Exports and Trade:

Mercury’s presence in Pushya Nakshatra, ruled by Saturn, suggests that exports of agricultural products, fertilizers and other commodities have the potential to contribute significantly to the economy. However, Mercury’s position at 13 degrees 41 minutes indicates challenges in overseas trade. Addressing these obstacles strategically could lead to substantial gains.

Addressing Banking Sector Challenges:

The 11th house, representing national income, faces obstructions due to its lord’s placement in the 6th house. While this may create hurdles, Jupiter’s favorable position in its own Nakshatra suggests that sound policies and reforms can help overcome financial barriers. Interestingly, private banks may see greater profits under Jupiter’s influence.

Strengthening Relations with Neighboring Countries:

Ketu’s presence in the 7th house from the Ascendant (Scorpio) has historically contributed to turbulent diplomatic relations. However, prioritizing policies that uplift those below the poverty line and increasing budgetary allocations for agriculture could mitigate some of these tensions. Countries ruled by Mercury and Saturn are likely to support India in such endeavors.

Additional Recommendations:

Expansion of small-scale tree plantation programs nationwide.

Enhancing surplus agricultural product exports on an international scale.

Rebranding Government Bank Logos to a darker shade of blue to align with Saturn’s influence.
